This company was created by Jean Bousquet in Nimes in 1962 and was founded in 1964. The name Cacharel was derived from the local name of garganey, a small duck in Camargue called Anas querquedula. He grew up in the world of clothes making and trained to be a tailor himself. He worked as designer for 2 years before he was able to go back to Paris and put up his own fashion house called Le Marais. His first collection was so successful that he was inspired to create Cacharel.
